Years ago my parents rented a caravan for a week. One night my mum woke up for a wee and in the halflight saw a little boy sat looking out of a window. She thought he was my younger brother and asked him what he was doing up at early hours. The boy smiled at her and slowly disappeared. She saw him again just before we were due to go home and when she told the caravan owners they told her they had bought the caravan mainly for their son who had sadly died. They showed Mum a photo and it was the same boy. My parents waited till we got home before they told my brother and me.
I believe there is something that we don't yet understand.

I've never seen a ghost, but have seen the black shadows that others have mentioned. Don't think i'd like to see a ghost to be honest.
Yes, i agree with Jafi on this one.
We certainly do not yet fully understand what goes on with this kind of supernatural suspicion.
I have yet to see a ghost either.If i do see a ghost,i hope it's a friendly one.....

Oh my word! Loads of replies since I last answered!
To naomi - the female figures seen in our house, which appear in bedrooms, and floating along the landing to disappear into various walls, are dressed in old-fashioned garb. they've been seen sitting sedately in one of the downstairs rooms as well. The "male" presence" appears as a semi-transparent shadow. It's tall, you can make out the body shape, but not the facial features, and he has an un-nerving habit of appearing a few feet in front of you when you least expect it. You get a sixth sense about these things. It's definitely male. I also saw the ghost of my best friend who died a few years ago. We'd always said that if there was an after-life, we'd try and get back and let the other one know, within a year of death. True to form, on a bright summer's day, me and another friend turned to look out of the window at the children outside. My best friend suddenly came into view, wearing familiar clothes that she'd worn in life. She was smiling, and waved as she came towards us. I almost had a heart attack, & rushed outside - but of course, she'd gone.
Did the friend who was with you see her too, Icey?
No - the incredible thing, was that she charged out after me, wondering what was the matter. She said the blood'd drained from my face.
To give an answer to the entities in our house, the whole family've seen them. They don't generally frighten us now because we're used to them, but when one of my children was about 3, he cried out one night. We went to see what was wrong, and he asked who the lady was who came into his room and sat on a chair by his bed......
We lived in, for want of a better term, a haunted house too. There could be no mistake about what went on there. It was relentless. You do get used to it after a while - but I was very pleased when we moved.

The most inexplicable thing was that we'd wake up some mornings and every clock and watch in the house had been put back an hour. Every single one, whether they were electric, clockwork, or battery. The video clock, cooker clock - everything - even watches that were left in drawers and never saw the light of day. It happened fairly frequently, and no one has ever been able to give me a logical explanation for it.

Speak to you tomorrow. Night.
naomi24 - you should have put all your timepieces an hour fast.
Night naomi.

Lol @ Harry!
Ice.Maiden - goodnight to you too - sleep well.

Spoken like a true sceptic - which of course is your prerogative. As others've said - if you saw one yourself, you'd change your mind.
I've had "experiences" but never seen anything in the house in which I grew up - although my brother has seen a ghosty bloke there. (the house was built in the 15C with 18C additions, but dates back to 1309).

But more scary was seeing my mother in law's dead sister when my m-i-l was in hospital with pneumonia (although at the time none of us realised her cancer had returned and she was not long for this world). One evening my ex husband went to visit her and I was at home alone. I was out in the garden dead heading things and stood up to see Aunty Bee standing in the corn field, but she was gone in a flash and I thought nothing of it - just thought I was imagining it. When my hubby came home from hospital he looked really ill. He sat down and said how he thought his dad was losing it. He said that earlier that day, his dad had said how Aunty Bee had walked into the living room and sat down in "her" chair. It was at that point that I started to feel ever so slightly weird. M-i-l died 6 weeks later.
Yes. Too mamny people've had experiences for there not to be something in it.
I always say that I'll only believe my own eyes, and I've seen literally dozens of things. I don't even question it any more. They're there, and that's it.
This post has gone full circle cos my first post on here was about me seeing an apparition who I later found out was a relative of someone who was dying in that house.
so.. we stayed in a caravan on a farm about 5 years ago. the caravan was set on paving slabs that were separate to the other caravan nearby. me, my friend, my 2 kids and her daughter. my daughter and her daughter shared a twin room. I had a double bed with my young son, my friend slept in the living area.

night 1. the kids went to bed, we were up chatting in the living area. my son gets up and says, "mum, the bed is moving!" we laughed, I told him he was imagining it and I took him back to bed. then it felt like someone was walking heavily straight down the middle of the caravan. I could hear it and feel the movement but I didn't say anything and neither did my friend.

this went on for the whole week. we weren't near anything that could cause a vibration, like a train line or road.

one night I "felt" the footsteps again, my friend and I looked at each other and I said, "did you feel that?" she said "yes, I've felt it every night". it was freaky. then she asked me if I'd got up during the last night as she'd seen me in the dark, in my doorway, waving at her. she thought I was on my way back from the loo.. but I hadn't been out of bed at all. we were both horribly freaked out.

we decided to go home first thing in the morning (2 days early). I went to bed that night and muttered, "oh, do your worst!" and the wardrobe doors rattled together for about 2-3 minutes, then stopped.

so there you go. we were really freaked out but have never told the kids, and we've never spoken about it since.

I saw nothing, but certainly felt it.

These things are inexpicable aren't they, but perhaps we're not meant to know all the answers.
