The Comfort Of Prayer To Jesus Christ

The last seven years have not been without high points in my life, for example, real joy at having five grandchildren, looking at how my own childrens lives have developed etc etc.
However, there have been very many negatives over the same period, that have affected me deeply, and continue to do so.
I find that especially when I am at my lowest, I find real comfort in prayer to Jesus Christ, and I am always left with the feeling that I am not facing my problems alone.
I am not presenting this as any kind of evidence that the objective scientist demands as proof for the existence of God, but simply presenting my own experiences for your consideration.
My questions are; 1) Is there anybody else here who also prays? 2) Do you find comfort in your prayer as I do?
Other comments from ABers of all pursuasions are of course, as always, most welcome.

I tend to pray when things are not going well. I do believe it helps, having someone to say private thoughts to.
Amazing! It never occurred to me but we were at 13,500 feet a.s.l and you are spot on.. I thought you might say that as a guid Scot he wouldn't need prayers!
As and when I pray, I either follow a set pattern and ritual (and that can vary, depending on where I am and what the situation is) - or in times of trouble, it's something very specific, mostly for strength and the right decision to get us through this thing - but also I do my best afterwards to remember to give thanks for the outcome.
There is no such thing a s a soul. That is your religious beliefs providing a delusion that there is some part of you which isn't mortal.
and the thing is we can choose to pray or not.
If you find prayer comforting and it helps you through the day then that can only be a good thing Theland. Just think - 84% of the world's adult populace recognise a superior being so you are joined in daily prayer by the majority of the world's population! Regardless of religion or creed hundreds of millions of Muslims, Christians and Jews pray every day and they all derive the comfort and warmth that the 16% are lacking.
I wonder what the percentage of people living in Britain who pray is?
My concept of praying is talking to God like I'd talk to another person, in my mind or sometimes in a regular tone of voice; that'd only be when I'm alone though.
I wonder if anyone has proved that prayer can lower blood pressure in the way meditation has?
most of them are probably contributing to this thread
seadogg. i*ll pray for you and get the high blood pressure down and you can get off the medication,,,,,,,,,,,,,best check with gp first though, lol
I dont have it Anne. It was a hypothetical question, not a hypertesive one
A very simple prayer of mine - each day as I unlock the door to leave for work or where ever, I say God take me out safely and bring me back home safely.

When I get back home as I unlock my door upon entering I thank God for taking me out, and bringing me back in safely.

Prayers don't have to be complicated or elaborate.
"Oh dear Lord, save us from your believers."

I think I'm pretty much in concert with the faithful on the likelihood of that one being answered any time soon.
It matters not to me what anyone say about God, and praying. You have your beliefs and I have my own.
Theland, I see nothing wrong in uniting with your innate spirituality - and I do think that spirituality is innate in all human beings - but I genuinely believe that by focussing on the God of Abraham you are condoning the biggest mistake that mankind ever made. He's a charlatan - his history clearly confirms that he's a charlatan - and if you really want to link with your spirituality and find peace in the true sense of the word you need to expand your horizons.
Oh, and just an afterthought. Jesus wasn't a Christian - he was a Jew. I hate repeating myself, but you really should have plumped for Judaism, Theland. ;o)
I have prayed in the past, when I was at a low and desparate point - and I did find it comforting, but it wasn't to Jesus.
Who then?
I don't know - anyone that might have been listening. If I'd have thought there was a chance Jesus was listening I might have addressed it to him, but I never felt any inkling that he was, either then or since.
