I have received a notification from "paypal" informing me that I have added a new email address to my account, which I haven't, and if I haven't to inform them so, I normally junk these things but it has a rather authentic look about it, the sender is '[email protected].'
Do you think it is genuine or a scam please?
Its unlikley to be genuine. Eitherway I suggest you log into your paypal account independently, ie don't use a link from an email. Check your email address and change your password while you are there.
If you hover over the address of teh sender or look at the headers/raw message details you may find the real email address, or closer inspection may show it is PAYAL or similar (I have had those), but some are very good at making it seem as if it has come from paypal.
But as others have said you should log in to your paypal account and see if there is a message there
Just checked my paypal account and there hasn't been any added email addresses, so it is a very authentic looking scam, the idea being to coax you into clicking on the link.
i get these and others every other week, from banks building societies
etc that i have no account with, im getting so used to them now, banks dont send you emails asking you to login or saying that you are in debt or past etc etc, ignore and right click on email as add junk in outlook
