Watched MOTD this morning. The camera panned to three Man United subs.
Two of them had their eyes glued to mobile phones, one didn't. The one who was interested enough to watch the game was Ryan Giggs. I wonder whether the other two will last as long playing as Giggs.
I also belief that highly overpaid footballers (that are not good enough to make the team) might at least turn off their phones/music for 90 minutes while a match is in progress. Anyone agree/disagree ?
giggs is just a legendary footballer, as much as people hate united you have to give it to giggs as a professional player to be looked upto by youngsters. if any youngsters have the hunger for the game that he has now after winning everything then they wont far wrong.
everyone bangs on about rooney when he's in the papers for prozzers, and other stuff and when do you giggs in the papers for anything other than doing something genius on the pitch?
Great though Giggs is (and only a fool would deny he is) dont let's forget about Paul Scholes too. Another fine example of footballer. And then of course there is Gary Neville. I could go on. If I was to pick a non Manchester United player as an example I would go for Phil Neville
Personally I think it's shambolic when highly paid footballers are more interested in their phones than the 90 minutes of the game. I'd get rid of them if that's their level of professionalism.
dave1948 - I agree that they should have been watching the game, but they weren't subs, they were not part of the 18 players for that game - hence why they were sitting behind Bobby Charlton in the stand.
