Cheltenham Festival.

The festival starts tomorrow. Always a great week of National Hunt Racing. I have been looking at the runners and have narrowed the field. Well for me anyhow. I have listed below some of my 'fancies'.

I will do place pots every day based on these selections but will be having a close look at a nice acca or a bet that includes 4folds upwards on the *selections. Bear in mind that Vautor holds an entry for Fridays Gold Cup and may not run Thurs at 2.50. I think tomorrow the bookies could be slated with 4 of those selections, albeit at small odds. On Friday I like Ivanovich Gorbatov but will wait for now. Plus Dr Harper that I have picked for Thurs 5.30 originally held 6 entries over the 4 days.

A man after my own heart, Togo. Whenever i go racing i use 3 pockets; the back left for expenses (drinks, form card, etc), the front left for my entire afternoons betting stake and the front right for winnings. When i enter the course, the money in the front left already belongs to the bookies. If there is any money in the front right when i leave, i'm happy.
Joeluke; Togo is correct, those selections permed equate to 48 placepots.
Talking of placepots, my dear departed mum used to love doing placepots and had the Cheltenham placepot up in 2011 (day 2 i believe) which paid £5,750+. She passed away the year later on Gold Cup Day.
One or two would-be party-poopers on this thread! Need to get out more, imho.

Ken one of my brothers won £28k a few years ago on a rolled over placepot, then £12k the next year. Jammy git. He also goes for 2 of the days every year. He is a bit younger than me and 6ft so can handle the crush. Funnily enough writing this reminds me that I am the oldest of 13 and he is the youngest.

Ken4155, I do exactly the same when I go racing except I have a handbag with 3 pockets. When we leave we always go for a meal back near home it just depends how fancy as to what is in the 'win' pocket .

Actualy joe is correct. The pp is the first 6 races only so it is 24 lines. At 10p a line it is only a £2.40 stake. If he wanted to do an e/w acca it would be 48 lines for both the win and place punt. But he could do both at 5p and that would be £4.80.

We are on a similar wavelength there ken. pp it is nice to get something back. It is only 'fun' for most of us. We love the racing, and a little punt adds personal involvement to a great spectacle. As I hinted in an earlier post I only put over the counter what I could burn if the mood took me, and others said they had similar attitudes to having a flutter. Still a win now and again is nice.
