transferring a computer system
Can anyone tell me how I can transfer stuff from my old computer to my new one - including settings, files, programs etc, or will I have to do it individually. I don't mind simply reinstalling some software from disks but some things are downloads.
I only have one monitor so I can't 'use' both machines at the same time.
I have win 98 and the new one has xp installed. I know xp has some sort of thing that does just this, but does it need to be on the old machine too? and can I jst install is now in order to transfer or will that just overwrite lots of stuff anyway.
will this also transfer any errors on the machine?
step by step instructions would be absolutely great or if you could point me to a good site. I would preferably not want to have to buy loads of software, cables etc, as my old machine has barely any space left (which is why i got a new one) and there is no room to download new software. though i suppose i could uninstall a few programs if that turned out to be the only way
thanks in advance
