When I upgraded to W7 from Vista, I was asked to make a repair disk. Is this the one to try now? If I re-install W7 I'll need to replace all the other files etc. won't I? As it happens I did a full copy of my part of the 'user' just a couple of days ago, so I'll not use anything vital! I use AVG, and have tried using their disk checkup (freebie for onetime use only - it runs out today), it says I have a file system error, and the effect of this is that it 'can cause data loss on the disk as well as program and operating system crashes'. I will try their recommended solution which is to 'Run a thorough analysis using AVG Disk Doctor to check the drive for errors and correct them', but if that doesn't work I suppose it's out of my league and down to my local 3d computers!
