I'm thinking of getting a SSD drive, see if they really go faster. I suppose they hook up just like a normal HDD. Any advice on anything I should watch out for?
Not that I am aware of. I build my sister and my woman a PC using SSD rather than the usual magnetic drive and they worked fine first time. At the same time I got a replacement SSD drive for my hard drive, discovered copying wasn't so easy since they are treated slightly differently, and still have not got around to trying the replacement. If you aren't using it as a main drive replacement I guess that won't be an issue for you.
I believe their used to be reliability issues, especially with the cheaper versions, but I also believe that is less of an issue these days. Try a web search to find out.
SSDs have a limitation to the number of times that you can copy to them.
Use the SSD as your boot drive (makes rebooting really fast) and put a normal HDD as a Data drive. Reconfigure Windows to us the HDD for page files etc. to reduce wear on the SSD.
