Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive
My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.
Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)
(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.

Woofy same here. Lidl is miles away I get a bus for half an hour and then a taxi. When I got my steamers I couldn't get back to bus stop so had to phone his to collect me as she had my car. I only go if there is something I desperately need. If I drive I have to go to the other one in San Antonio and its such a drive. We are also supposed to be get to getting one locally even though it'll still be a car ride away
Evening all
Another bitterly cold day but apart from a few wintery showers this morning it's dry now.
Sorry to hear your OH is still poorly Jno.Mr S had a kidney infection after his op and again when they removed the catheter he had for all that time after the botched prostate op .Very uncomfortable and painful.Cranberry juice is good or just plenty of water to flush out any nasties.Hope things soon improve.
Otherwise no news of great importance.I've rediscovered the joys of my hot cushion and can't seem to move from the sofa of an evening:) I'd forgotten all about it until Mr S reminded me.
Night all,sleep tight.

doc (a locum) was very reluctant to prescribe more antibiotics, on the grounds that they're destroying the human race; she gave just 3 days' worth, on the promise that they wouldn't actually be taken unless things got worse. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, we'll see. There's another appointment coming up on Thursday anyway, hopefully with a real doctor. Meantime, glasses of water are going down by the gallon. I'll mention cranberry juice in the morning too, thanks, shaney.
Another thing which is good and I think it was woofy who told me about it is bicarb of soda dissolved in water. I had a UTI some time ago and it helped enormously.
"To use baking soda as a treatment for a UTI, it's recommended that you dissolve 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of baking soda in water and drink it on an empty stomach."

Morning all
Dry,dull,cold.
That's a shame Jno. These things can be hard to shake off.Hopefully the antibiotics will do the trick.
Talking of Lidl ,Mr S has just gone there for a few bits.He does the Lidl shopping.Ours is a bus ride away but only a ten minute one.I got some nice baking trays recently and a throw/blanket for the sofa.
Hope you're all ok.

Evenin all...Have read your posts...hope your OH feels better soon jno and everyone's aches 'n pains are manageable. I had a devil of a headache on Saturday and I was stone cold which left me wiped out all of Sunday. I still keep feeling spaced out but today was lovely and mild with sunny spells so I had a potter outside. The autumn colour has been glorious this year.
Managed to tick a couple of boxes before the weekend, had my hair cut and hi/low lights and the gardener came with his beast of a mower and did a final cut (the grass, not my hair) :)
Yes, I've had some harassment in my time too. I just dealt with it with indifference.

Hello Robi. Oh dear I seem to ache in every bone and joint, have never felt so old! And this is the time of year that I love, but am washed out. Made a meat, pot and carrot pie with oniony cabbage, Mr N enjoyed it but tasted tasteless to me. And I am not sickening for anything, just feel beggared. Am nice and bathed and in bed now waiting for Holby!
Nice to see you Robinia .In spite of all our aches and pains we're all still pretty fabulous :)
A famous singer, one hit wonder, of the 60's put his hand up my skirt when I was serving his table drinks back in the day when I worked as a waitress. His beer got accidentally knocked over into his lap.If blokes used to try it on I just used to say ..don't touch what you can't afford, followed by one of my withering looks.
I've made a complete boob today. My bro brought ironing. Why he wants T shirts, thermal vests and polo shirts ironed is a mystery so thinking I was being clever and saving myself back agony I bunged those ones in the tumble drier and whipped them out one by one and smoothed and folded them .The only thing is one of the polo shirts will now probably fit a 5 year old.I hope he isn't going to want to wear it anytime soon .
Watched the A Word earlier .That little boy who plays Joe is so sweet.

Went to do some Xmas gift shopping by ended up in the English shop buying Xmas cards, mince pies, hash browns, liquorice allsorts, box of mixed cheese biscuits . So will have to wait for allowance on Friday to even start posting cards!!

Morning from grey and damp Derbyshire.
Neti I found this snippet on Wiki
"Acromioplasty is an arthroscopic surgical procedure of the acromion.
Generally, it implies removal of a small piece of the surface of the bone (acromion) that is in contact with a tendon causing, by friction, damage to the tendon."
I liked Keith Barron too, loved his voice.

Hello all
Dreary misty day here . I liked Keith Baron.Good all round actor.I've been trying to remember a series I watched which he was in .It wasn't a comedy and it was years ago. It'll come to me eventually.
I've made precisely 0% this year. I invest too much money in cardigans.Mr S has been to pick up my click from Sainbury's Tu.
Lovely cardi for 16 quid and much nicer than ones I've paid more for.
Sorry to hear about your aches and pains Neti.Sounds similar to what you get in your knees ,bits of odd crud floating about.
