I've only just bought a brand new computer. At first it ran very well but lately its slowed down quite a bit and comes up with messages like error on page do you wan to carry on running scripts? Is it true that wiping everything off and installing all software every 6 months is the best thing?
It is an extreme measure - I would only recommend it if the machine is totally screwed! Have you tried the standard 'speed up' tricks, such as defrag, disk clean up, increasing your virtual memory, and making sure that you do not have loads of 'hidden' software running in the background? If you sort these, then your machine should run much more happily. The error on page message can be caused by firewalls being over keen to protect you or badly written web sites.
