computer sound
2 Answers
I have just started using my new notebook and I noticed that during playing a video or a song from online it plays for 5 seconds then freezes for 45 seconds. I went into control panel and checked the speakers; they appeared to be working fine. In control panel I was able to play the demonstration sound that comes as a sample with the computer. Just to make myself clear in explaining the control panel visit, these are the steps i took:
control panel
hardware
systems properties
device manager
I did observe in device manager a file called 1394 net adapter was marked by a red 'X'. I checked the X and the red disappeared, but the problem is still there.
I don't know much about the technical aspects of computers so please take that into consideration when providing your very much appreciated answers.
Thanks for your help

I think the 1394 is Firewire ( for connecting to web cams etc), so unles you are useing it or intned to, nothing much to worry about.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for answering. I just played a cd and it played great without any problems. So it seems to be only when i'm trying to get music from online. Also I use dial-up, I don't have broadband, cable or DSL. So I imagine that's my problem. At least I am happy to know that the computer is not at fault. Thanks for explaining what 1394 is.
Thank you again for helping.
