what is the fastest way to burn a dvd from an avi or mpeg movie file

as in a watchable dvd format ?
follow the steps
select dvd and then make my own dvd movie.
its all pretty self-explanatory but post back if you need further help.

Nero tends to take a while to convert the files though. If it's a single movie, I tend to convert it to VOB files using WinAVI first, then burn using Nero
