Can anyone help a complete computer idiot ?
I always download a couple of crosswords from the web which are in Pdf format. When I try to do this today my computer freezes ,they won't load and I have to log off and restart. The Adobe reader thingy is obviously not working . Tried a systems restore but that doesn't do anything either .I have no idea how to download another reader and am missing my Spectator crossword fix !
We use Firefox .
Any ideas ..thank you .

halfway down the stem for me, but this is because I don't know where it should really be so I am compromising.
Neti, is it just that your typeface is too big? Control minus if so, or just control and spin the wheel in your mouse. Or view>zoom or something.
Bah, another 12 drops of rain this evening. Somebody start a monsoon for the night, please.

hello all phew what a day. Dh texts me around 10 am to say he can come home this afternoon and will I pick him up around 4,30? That's fine I usually visit then because parking any earlier is total murder and often totally impossible too. So I carry on with the housework feeling all cheerful and getting generally filthy and sweaty. One o'clock i get another text "Come and get me NOW" So i phone him and say are you sure he says yes. I say i may not be able to park, he says he will get a taxi I say In your pajamas??? because he went in in the middle of the night by ambulance. Anyway long story short, i grabbed some of his clothes, washed the bits of me that show, changed myself and got a cab to the hospital and he's home, in bed exhausted and i am sat here drying off after a late shower and coming down off the ceiling.
I feel better having got that out of my system.... night all

I've had in depth discussions with Mr S. today ,who,in spite of his previous gung ho attitude ,is a bit nervous now .Lots of "what ifs " etc.
To be quite frank I'm a nervous wreck meself but I can't let him see that .I just keep saying that it will be alright .
I've just watched Victorian Pharmacy .Cure all, smelling salts and horse liniment are the way to go for your medical mysteries :)
i shall continue nipping off down the stem then despite of what my brother says ....

Glad Mr W is safely home. Same sort of thing happened to me last time Mr LL was discharged. 'Come and get me now' and, when I arrived, exhausted after driving 30 miles down the A47, 'I have been ready and waiting for ages, where have you been'. Grrrr, men!!
Thinking of you Shaney, keep your chin up. I think it's tougher being the one left at home to worry than it is the one who is actually having things done to them. Are you staying with him on Saturday?
Much love to all of you. xx

I don't like the way petunias leave sticky stuff on your fingers, also they get blackfly something dreadful in my garden. My ironing lady whose mum had green arms and legs let alone green fingers, has done her fabulous hanging baskets with little double petunias in, very pretty.
Shaney I know what you mean about hiding stuff. i cannot play poker to save my life but I lie like the dickens to DH about how I feel about what he is going through. One thing I did learn is that the survival rate stats that are quoted are invariably low bit a bit to quite a bit because they are old data and the specialists are learning all the time, actually week to week they learn from each other how to do things better. And yes, knowing is better than not knowing. The other practical thing I have done which has helped me is to keep some extra cash around and have a "grab and go" handbag packed with spare glasses for both of us, the aforementioned cash, a notebook, spare mobile phone battery, important phone numbers and info, headache and indigestion remedy, spare housekeys, you know just stuff. It is practically helpful but also makes me feel calmer and more in control.

Morning All..
Woofy I'm very pleased Mr W is home now and I do hope he gets better very soon.
Shaney and Mr. S All the best for tomorrow. I know exactly what it is like wondering what the result of a test is going to be. All the best.
Robi not forgetting you, hope your addled feeling of last night has gone and you slept well. It's a lot fresher this morning isn't it. I've got some washing out so it better not rain just yet but in the great scheme of things does it really matter.
Now Neti ~ I was in stitches when I read your post. I walked into the paper shop this morning and the Manager said to me 'Did you fix your chair' His wife is on FB and she saw my comment and they had a good laugh. For the rest of you My comment was 'Tip of the Day ~ When putting an Ikea chair together check you don't put the front l;egs on upside down' which is what I did. What a bl**dy plonker. I couldn't believe it. Took me longer to take it apart then to do it in the first place. The air was fuffoowaffed to bits. Never going to Ikea again ever ever ever!!! Thought I'd share that with you for a laugh!
Have a peaceful day biddyfriends

I'm back, had something I needed to do...
I like petunias but they hate the rain so after last year's wet summer I didn't bother & as mentioned before only bought a fivers worth of boring lobelia & begonias...but look what a show they're putting on for me , bless 'em

The rest are in a tub with a fucshia which is being obstinate & not opening it's flowers.
I'm pleased Mr W's back in situ woofy, hope he feels much better for being home, you can never really relax in hospital. Anne is fine, I would say that, I'm an Ann, Patricia Ann Ribena ;o)
And shaney, thinking of you & Mr S, the day before always seems like an eternity.
No Jude I didn't have a good night..lets just say I'll not bother saving up to go to Oz, my instincts were right, without a miracle, this ain't gonna be a dream made in heaven. <sigh>
Erm, have you bought up all local supplies of No Nails glue? :o)
