Tiny screens make it hard on the eyes after a while.
Tiny keyboards are not great for typing.
Thats the two drawbacks that are common to all netbooks.
The rest depends on what you get, the ones with solid state storage have very very limited "hard drive" space
I'd love one, but it's a device that falls between a Itouch or PDA type phone and a proper laptop, they are good for people that need to be portable, but for home users may not suit.
the biggest problems your likely to come across is the physical size, but a trip to PC world would soon let you know if the keyboard or screen size is unusable and.... it won't have a CD drive of any sort so anything you want to install on it will either have to be downloaded or done from a shared CD drive on your home network.
Also with XP on a fairly low powered machine you will have to be very careful to keep it clean and not install too much crap otherwise it will slow down sooo much it's unusable.
they had laptops at 359 quid but they were all sold out
the wee notepad was selling well
ok they dont have a dvd drive but with a 8gb flashdrive around 20 quid i think then who need one?
you can download and play movies from it on a notepad
it is what it says
for online msn or ab/cb and surfing
yes a linux one would not be so prone to suffer from the dreaded "windows slow down", but... To use it it would be a little different to windows, but not hugely,
I would personally out of the two go for Legs one, but seeing as I am typing this on a Linux laptop that I removed windows from..... well I'm a little biased :)
Thanks Chuck. I was talking to a salesman in Curry's today, and he said I would need a "Windows" one - because I have Windows on my home computer and I want to be able to contact Paul on the little one. Does that make sense?
I have two laptops, one linux, one windows and they "talk" to each other with no problems.
and in my experience sales staff at places like currys or PCworld are working there because they can't get a proper job with computers, take advice from them with a massive pinch of salt.
Thanks Chuck. Maybe he was trying to sell me the dearer one. I can't remember his exact words, but he definitely said I needed to choose a Windows machine.
No - don't say that Chuck!!! Horrors. I know of someone who works there, because it's near to where she lives and her hours fit in with family life. She has a degree in computer programming and design, and is on her second techy one. What she doesn't know about computers is nobody's business.
