address bar missing

a friend of mine cant get on her computer as the address bar has gone, please can anyone help as how to restore it, many thanks

It could be a couple of things, firstly, click view, toolbars, and check that address bar is ticked.

Also it is possible to make the address bar so small that you can't see it.

cant even click anywhere nothing is showing and ie wont load

Press ctrl + esc keys to press the start button without an address bar

there is a start button on the toolbar on the bottom but no address bar at the top so thats not it, thanks anyway

Open IE. If no menu is across the top press the ALT key.
(If Vista) this shows it as it is normally hidden
Then click View-Toolbars-Address Bar

reading your question and later comments I'm a little lost as to what your talking about now.

You say they can not get on their computer as the address bar has gone.... if the address in Internet explorer has gone then they would still be able to get on their computer.... just not type in internet addresses

You then said IE won't load.... how do you know the address bar has gone if it won't load?

Can you clarify the actual problem at all?

Take it from the beginning...

when they first turn on the computer does windows load OK and can the log in (or does the desktop appear ok)?

If so do they then see everything as they expect it?

if they do and assuming they then try to load internet explorer, what happens, and what do they see?
