Intel Core i7

Hello

I'm looking to upgrade my pc, but i'm a little confused about the processor that the machine i'm looking at has.

It has an intel core i7, I've never heard of these before and i thought the latest cpu's where the core duo 2's. Can any body advise me please, the new pc is to be used mainly for music, and photo, editing etc and not for games.

the core i7 is the successor to the core duo

it's a quad core 64bit CPU so should be pretty quick if software supports it.

reckon it must be a fairly pricey PC your looking at to have one in it.

Cheers for you replies, technology moves too quick for me lol. The pc will be about �1300 with the i7 and a blu-ray writer.
