Shutdown Shortcut

Any way I can get a shortcut on my desktop I have Windows XP and have tried using the properties and New -Shortcut but with no success.

A shortcut to shutdown? No sorry.
Many PCs allow you to briefly press the power button to log off and shut down the machine though.

right click anywhere on your desktop, select new > shortcut

in the first page enter the line below as the location of the item

C:\Windows\ system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0

Click next, call the shortcut whatever you want and click finish.

Then when you double click the icon you've just created it will shutdown the computer
