Disc drive not working

my disc drive on my laptop dont seem to be working when i insert a disc, i have looked at it in the devise managment but it says that it is working and does not need to be updated. i cant even go in to computer and select to run the disc from there as there is no icpn for it, i have also tried many discs so i know that isnt the problem either.
