Connecting To Skype
My wife is at present in Australia seeing her grandson for the first time Iam at home with her HP Laptop and she has asked me to try and set up a Skype connection on it. When I click on the Skype icon on the desktop it asks me for a mail address and password. My wife has a GMail address and after i put that in it asks me for a password but does not recognise her GMail password but asks for a Microsoft one. Can any please guide in the right direction to connect please.

To call a mobile in Oz costs us 13p/min which ain't too bad
Are you using an ipad?
If so, top right corner there is a "+"
Click on it - you get 2 options - click on "Search Skype Directory"
Now enter the name, email address or skype name of your son-in-law
Click on the relevant one and you'll get their details. Now send your contact request.
Alternatively get them to request contact from their end and you should have their message to click on when you next sign in

You can create anew account with your email address and new password on skype. It is not time consuming and then you will add your boy/daughter in your akype account and can easily chat to them. If you are using Skype on windows 8 then you neeed to put your wife microsoft email address and password. You can also create new user with windows 8. I would suggets you to check help center of skype.
I'm back no further forward. Have got a touch of "man flu" so my head is thicker than usual. I have tried just about everything the posts have suggested and although when I sign into Skype using my wife's details it just keeps coming to the same subsciption page no referencce to contacts anywhere. I have tried downloading from the Skpe websight dut where you would expect to see a click Here for Download nothing other than 3 BOXES sTEP 1 THEN 2 AND THEN 3.Am I thick or what.

Eh??? Having a Skype account is like having a telephone. You need one and the person you're trying to contact needs a different one. You should be signing into YOUR account in with YOUR account details, while your wife should be signing into HER account with HER account details. You shouldn't be signing in with your wife's account details!

What I have been trying to do, is using my wife's account details to sign into her account on her laptop (Windows 8) as she had been in contact before she went to OZ so her son-in-law's details should be on the Contacts when I can find it and so I wiil,l in all intent, be contacting him. The main reason behind all this I believe is that when she returns home she can use the Skype rather than the phone so as she can see her grandson growing u and so would like to see it up and going when she gete home. As I said I can log in OK with her details but just cannot navigate to another page other than the subsciption one.
Just to close this one off my son and partner came round today as they do not live local. Any the partner is a bit of a whizz kid on Skype so she had a go at setting it up using my wife's log-in details. She did the same things as I had done with help from this site got the same responses could not understand why , like me, could not get the page re contacts but suddenly there was a whirring sound and hey presto there it was with the son-in-laws profile etc but she had no idea how this happened so tonight will be trying it out. Thanks again for all the help received.
