Connecting To Skype
My wife is at present in Australia seeing her grandson for the first time Iam at home with her HP Laptop and she has asked me to try and set up a Skype connection on it. When I click on the Skype icon on the desktop it asks me for a mail address and password. My wife has a GMail address and after i put that in it asks me for a password but does not recognise her GMail password but asks for a Microsoft one. Can any please guide in the right direction to connect please.

Skype is only free when you call other Skype users who are registered with Skype. To call a land line in any country is called "Skype out" and requires a minimum of £10 credit. As the previous posted suggested if they have any type of PC in Aus then just set up a Skype account and get them to e mail you their user name, you enter it in the search box, request friend they click accept and away you go. It's actually easier to do than explain. Skype out is still cheap, I put £10 on months ago and still have £5 left.
You say you have managed to signup/in to Skyp using your wifes details.
She would need to sign in as a different user at her end, as you can't skype yourself!
eg. you signup as "husband", she signsup as "wife". "husband" then sends a contact request to "wife". "wife" then allows or blocks "husband". Once contact has been agreed between "hsband" and "wife" either can call or message the othe at anytim. You can't have "wife" trying to skype "wife"

She would be signing in using her son-in-law's details she did contct them several months ago via her Ipad hence that why she already had a account. What I just cannot seem to do is navigate within her Skype account to find the areas you have mentioned ie the search box to find her son-in-laws name/number.
