A Twitter Question

Sorry to re-post, I put this first under the general Technology header.
In the hideous new unwanted-yet-mass-enforced Twitter profile layout, what is the point of the 2 tabs, one labelled 'Tweets', the other 'Tweets and replies' ? In my profile, the Tweets tab lists all tweets up to about a week or so ago. All further tweets since then, plus ALL the earlier ones, are only found under the Tweets & Replies tab. What's the point of that?
Also, profile settings has the option to change your profile background. But in fact, it seems to just stick with the white background, making all profiles look the same. Or am I missing something?
I'm sorry to be asking this here, but it's dawned on me that any query to @twitter, @support or their email query system goes ignored and unanswered.
