How Much Would You Pay Per Month To Remove Adverts From Ab?

Afternoon all!

We've been considering giving you the opportunity to remove adverts across the site with Google's new "contributor" option.

This would mean that if you wanted to remove ads, and continue to support the site in a small way, you could do so.

Obviously this wouldn't apply to everyone, but there's a few on here who might fancy removing adverts while still contributing to the continued existence of the site :)

Anyway, how much would you consider a reasonable price?

Personally £2 or £3. Of course you know many are already able to remove the ads for nothing :-). I don't care about ads per se but the real big problem is the ads have a major detrimental effect on the smooth running of the site for lots of people. While that is such an issue you can't blame us for not wanting them.

For the entertainment and advice I'd be happy with up to £10 a month....x

Ab Editor, I have been pondering this some months. I don't believe in something for nothing and everyone who provides a service should get proper recompense. Those who use adblockers are stealing the revenue of the website owners but I really do not adverts. I wish there was a way I could make a monthly payment which is distributed to those sites I use with an adblocker. I contribute to Wiki as there is an easy provision to do so. On the other hand I don't want to subscribe to some sites that I might only visit once or twice but I would be willing to pay a few pence to read an article.
Then of course is the problem of hyperlinks. I use a lot of links on AB that everyone can read for free.

I would be prepared to subscribe to AB for £3 a month which is not a lot of money, I know.

We need you to tell us how much revenue on average you get for each ABer per month so the adblock users can compensate you.

Thanks for the opportunity to comment. Have you thought thru the potential minefield of providing a paid service and then suspending people / banning people i.e. there would have to be some very careful wording around EXACTLY what you were paying for.

I got fed up with the Ads messing with the Site and took appropriate action. If you could sort out AB so it ran smoothly and all the features were kept updated I would think £4 a month would not be unreasonable as it's still a decent Site.

I use Ad-block for free, so why would I pay a fee for Ad removal?

I suppose, copacetic, it might be when so many use an adblocker that advertisers don't want to advertise so the site owners have to choose between closing it down or asking for subscriptions/donations

Copacetic, you are preventing the site owner from earning the revenue they should, that's why you should pay.

Hc, what about the Ads that mess up my equipment, why should I be expected to keep those, if the Site Admin can't sort them and the only way to get rid of them is to block all who is at fault there?

I use another site that has various levels of paid subscriptions. The lowest being £1 per month for forum access,followed by £1 per week for forum plus access to articles on health and nutrition. This is paid quarterly via paypal. So I suppose I'd pay up to £5 per month.

I think ab should pay me for my time spent on their site.... The company I work for does :)

I agree with Baldric. I have long found it a cheek that we need to be told which browser etc to install to make the site run properly.

So , do advertisers know how many people use the site and how many of those use an Ad Blocker ?
