System Restore
5 Answers
Okay this is what happened. I wanted to run my laptop in safe mode but it must of froze cos it was on one part for an hour. So i switched it off from the on button (it was my only choice) and restarted it. When every thing loads up now most off my files are gone, my wallpaper has turned to defult and so are all my other settings i think. So im guessing a system restore will fix everything but infact every time i try it, it says something along the lines of "System Restor Incomplete" or "System Restore has failed". Can some one please either tell me an alternative to a system restore or if system restore will fix the problem, how i can fix the system restore? Thanx

If you look in the
C:\Documents and Settings
folder then it'll list various users. One might be the new you, another the old. The "missing" files may be in there.
Is it just your settings that have gone wonky? It's not that programs are no longer installed?
Oh, finally - you've triggered one of my pet hates...
"it must of froze..."
Please, in future, say and type "it must have" or I'll go even more round the bend. Thank you :-)
