Range Extenders

Hi all,
Currently have a netgear EX2700 range extender - 300Mbps. If I were to replace it with a Netgear AC1200 range extender - 1200 Mbps, would this improve reception ? Not sure if the Mbps figures just mean it's faster ? Any advice greatly received.

Mbps is megabits per second - a measure of the data transmission rate, so yes, 1200 is faster than 300 - nothing to do with the range or quality

If you're not happy with the range extender have you considered a powerline?

If this appeals, be sure to do your research and buy the pair that is right for you - some are wifi enabled, some have pass through so it doesn't waste a plug socket.

The 2700 claims to cover 600 sq ft, the 1200 to cover 1200 sq ft, so at any given location in the house the 1200 would give a stronger signal.

Have you checked what speed you have at incoming line?
