Hello, I recently just bout a HP pavilion ze4500 laptop computer and i was wondering about connecting to the internet with it. I have a desktop computer at home with 56K, so does that mean to connect to the internet via my new laptop, I still have to get a router? to my knowledge, the laptop has a built in network adapter, i know i have to get a wireless card, but do i have to get a router too if all i want to do is connect to the internet from my own home with my laptop?

No, just set up the dial-up internet connection on your laptop and providing it has a built in modem it should be able to dial & connect. Routers are for sharing broadband connections. If you want both computers connected at the same time, but only have access to one phone line, then things begin to complicate. (Though not much.)

I dont care too much for both computers being on at the same time. I jus want to be able to be in my room (which doesnt have a phone jack ) and be able to be on the internet on my laptop lol.
