Who has one of these? Do you recommend them? What's the basic difference between the older version and new 3G one? Are any other book readers worth considering? Do you have to have a Kindle to download from Amazon, or can use download to any book reader?
I have.
Yes I recommend them.
3G means one can buy your books on-line wherever you are. Non 3G means you have to be in range of a "hot spot"e.g router.
No idea about other ebooks.
Yes, you have to have a kindle to download to Amazon, but having a Kindle you can download to your PC.
Thanks Sqad ....... is the non 3G one the one you have? I think I would only download at home (wired) via laptop, so is this one OK for me do you think?
P.S I get the Daily Mail delivered to my Kindle every morning.
This can be done through Amazon for a fee, or through Calibre for nothing. The disadvantage of the free method is that it takes over an hour to download.
I got Mr Spudqueen one for Christmas. I splashed out and got him the more expensive one as he travels quite a lot with work. He loves it, and has used it on two trips to California.
Maybe that only comes with the cheaper one then? Mine is a 3G one and there is no lead or socket to connect to a PC in any way, the only 'hole' in the Kindle is the one to plug in to charge it.
Husband bought me one for Christmas and its still in the box. I am an avid reader but have so many books to read that I can't be bothered with it. Its not the same as holding a book.
I don't have regular broadband at home but I connect my laptop to the internet via a broadband mobile dongle ..... How would I download to a kindle? Am I being thick?? Perhaps you kind people would just answer the first question rather than the bit about me being thick!! Lol
