I'm just wondering if you have clicked on one or two too many things on a PC and it has pretty much frozen, is there anything that you can press so that it cancels everything it is doing? Other than having to turn the thing on and off again. I'm running Windows XP.

control, alt delete, select task manager and end all the things that are not responding....
On the same theme, what exactly is the function of the escape button? A lifetime ago, when I was weaned on the BBC model B 64kb it got you out of the program. Today, however, it seems to do nothing.
It does get you out of full screen...

rowan, sometimes that does control/alt/delete doesn't register. Is there anything else that can be done in such a situation?
If it doesn't register, as it won't if the thing is frozen, then the only solution I have found is shut down and start again. Very unsatisfactory, I know.

Yeah mike, I learned that from the IT Crowd lol. The PC is 5 years old so that probably has something to do with it.
