PC Problems

Ok to cut a long story short, i have a custom built gaming pc, and recently it is constantly freezing then crashing and refusing to loads windows for days on end, then suddenly kicks back into life and acts like nothing has happened for a few weeks then does it all over again...i have had everything inside replaced except for the hard drive...when i turn my pc on, until windows has loaded it sounds like a helicopter landing in my living room...but ive come to rely on this sound, because if it starts quietly (like its supposed to) it means windows wont be loading.
Does anyone have any ideas, as im beginning to worry that one day my pc will never load again.

OK if HDD is only 6mths old, it's not likely to be that.

Your PSU is a bit low at 450w, some graphics cards can use up to 250w. If the psu is getting a bit flaky (noisy fan indicates that) could be your problem. I know most psu's are sealed but can you get an airspray in there to clean it through?

Does it crash to BSOD? If so any error codes.

Hi SlackAlice the psu was replaced 3 months ago and the noise stopped for 4 days then began again, i could try the airspray..do i need any in particular?
Most of the time it crashes to BSOD but not always, and the error code is always the same, it always says i have a hardware problem but never states which bit of hardware is the problem, which is why almost every part of the pc has been replaced...bit of a guessing game, im beginning to the think its the Motherboard itself thats the problem, as every time the pc starts to crash, one of the programs in windows xp becomes corrupt or is deleted, its never the same program twice.

Airspray, not hairspray ;-)

I've never bought one, but I'm aware you can get them for blasting things out. Since it is just air I guess one brand may not differ too much from another.

Thank you to everyone for answering my question, that day my pc went down again with no warning, its taken several days of fiddling with but now its back up and running, Fender62 was totally correct, my pc WAS over heating, ive changed all fans and purchased a stronger psu and problem solved...no noise no freezing and no crashing.
