Jpeg, Gif files

Regarding these files.....recently on my pc the icons for these file types have changed. They are no longer the icon that signifies that it will open with 'windows pictures and fax viewer'. They are the icons that usually shows if u have a file that cannot be accesses by your pc.

Anyway, when I double click on them, they still open as normal. Does anyone know what happened?
