Stuck on BBC 1

I tried to sort out a friend's TV problem without success. I hope you can help.

She has a Panasonic plus a digi box and has been OK but yesterday the picture stuck on BBC 1 with Blue banner across the bottom and on the right end the words Change Category.

I can't get rid of the banner or change channel. I don't know what it means by the term Category. I've checked the Menu for Picture and Set up and just about everything else. but nothing works. I can change over to programmes that have been recorded but when I go back on to TV it's just the BBC1 blue title banner. Any ideas ?

First thing, in case you have not already tried this, is to switch off the TV and digibox at the mains for 60 secs, then switch back on again and attempt a full rescan. If you have already done this, then I can't help any further, but it is amazing just what problems can be solved by this.

I will try that . I tried switching them off separately but it didn't help. The strange thing is with the digi box switched off the analogue channels change . The other thing the BBC 1 channel is working OK apart from the title banner being across the bottom of the screen.

I will get some more information but to answer a couple of points .

cont The TV and the digi box had been working perfectly both before and since the change over. The ' stuck ' problem has only just occurred.

Thanks everyone, it worked by turning everything off and after a couple of minutes putting it all back on back on.
