I have drivers for an Asus laptop running XP and wonder if the sound card driver would work on a Packard bell laptop running XP?

Unless they happen to use the same soundcard (or use the same motherboard with on-board sound) then the answer is 'No'. Have you looked for the driver here? http://www.packardbell.co.uk/pb/en/GB/content/download
