internet explorer.Came with windows 8 on laptop 18 months ago.according to the Amazon site won't be possible to download books after today unless I change my browser. This appeared yesterday.
Some internet browsers can become unsafe if not kept up-to-date. Some browsers are just getting too old.

What browser and what version of it?
I use Google Chrome and have no bother with it. I just don't like IE at all.
Doesn't seem to do it in IE for me. Do check you have all your Windows updates installed.
Oh, and just in case, do check your PC for malware.
I use Chrome and have never had a problem with Amazon.

I thought IE was suppose to be pretty rubbish anyway.

It's no harm downloaded different browsers.
What version of IE and are all the updates from Windows been applied successfully?

I'd recommend a change to Firefox anyway, available here

Haven't had to think about it before and happily downloaded books and only since yesterday got the message but have used it today to down load and ok...it gave options and have updated apps...how do you check which browser and version you are on....
Question Author
can you just change a browser for amazon or is it fro everything?
Can someone explain simply how you change and to what or how I check for sure what Iam on as when I use various sites I just select them from my favourites and not going into an actual search. Thanks
You may have multiple browsers, as I have, and open the one you wish to use. But one will always be the default one to use when other programmes need to open a browser window.

Version details, help menu, about option.
Click on, "help" on the tool bar at the top. Then click on, "about internet explorer".
If you're using Win 8, you should be on IE 10 as well :)
