I have a modern TV but its not one of those "smart" ones. Is there a way that I can link my laptop, to the TV, and then watch the BBC iplayer on a 42" screen, rather than the laptop ?
What cable would I need, and which of the many sockets on the TV will I need to plug it into?
Even better, can it be done by some wireless connection ? ( not keen to have any more cables strung out over my living room floor )
Better still, is there some kind of gismo that I can buy that will link my TV with my broadband router, so that I can "convert" the TV into a smarter TV than it is now. All I really want to do is watch programs on the iplayer...I am not remotely interested in watching films.
I am not keen to take out any more subscriptions though !
Talbot...I never use Amazon, unless I have no other choice. They are an dreadful, exploitative employer, and they also don't see the need to pay much in the way of tax in the UK, despite the UK providing a large part of their profits.
We have a very large Amazon Warehouse in Swansea, and I personally know some people that have worked there. The conditions are terrible, and the company has been exposed in the media :::

You can buy a NowTV box for £15 and run iPlayer (and the other on demand TV apps on that). It as probably as cheap as getting AV leads in the length you would need, and a damn sight tidier and more convenient.
Hc4361,
You did recommend the Now box. I added that it lets you use ITV Player, 4OD and Five OD, and that it is more convenient than the other methods.
The Now box is actually a Roku with Skys own software installed.
I have thinking that the TV Now thingy looks like the best answer, and at £9.99 its worth a go ! Ordered tonight and I will let everybody know how I get on. I just hope its not too difficult though, as my techie-in-chief nephew now lives in Oz !
Talbot...you asked me ! What should I have done...ignored your question ?
But I will now be ignoring any more questions from you on this topic. A regular ABer, who I met for the first time last December in Cornwall, for lunch, described you as a wind up merchant, and I can now see that he was right !
