Fitbit. What Else Di I Need.

I'd like to get a Fitbit, but I only have a 4S iPhone (about three years old) and a newish mini iPad.
How do these things work? What do I need to get the results?

Does their website not say ? No expert but I think they communicate via either bluetooth or WiFi, so I doubt you need more than what's is the box.
