I am using gmail basic for my emails & would like to know how to remove 1216 emails from my spam inbox. I believe that spam mails are automatically removed from gmail standard version after 30 days but this does not appear to be so with the basic version. Can anyone please help with this ?
You should see this at the top of the list:
"Delete all spam messages now (messages that have been in Spam more than 30 days will be automatically deleted)"
The "Delete all spam messages now" part is clickable.
Thanks guys but all of your answers refer to gmail standard version. Non of the solutions work with the basic version. Because I much prefer the basic version I am at a loss to get anything to work with regard to spam mails. The only option I appear to have is to tick each individual item to remove them & with over twelve hundred I am rapidly losing the will to live.

When you have your spam box open, is there an icon of a box or square above it, on the left hand side? Next to it is the refresh icon.
If you do have this box, click on it and click 'all' in the drop down menu. Now all your spam mail should be ticked so you can delete the lot in one go
Okay, I've just looked at the basic GMail and can see no way to bulk delete.
However, at the bottom of the page you have to option to use standard view. I would use that just to empty the spam box and go back to basic when it's done.
