Just renewed my broadband for another year, £16 unlimited use. As we dont use the landline for calls, do I still need to pay the same to renew the BT line rental, for just Broadband, does it cost the same? I pay line rental annually in advance and get a slight discount. Can anyone help without me having to hang on for BT customer service....
Since your broadband signal comes down your landline, yes you do. Notice they call it a landline; it used to be called a telephone line when that was all that came down it.
if you get your broadbnd through a dongle, you do not need line rental. but most domestic users need a landline in order to get broadbnd. Im surprised your BB provider didnt explain to you though. Most packages with BT or virgin for exmple cost more to take the landline element off, even if you never use it
