Anyone Else Wish Ab Returned To How It Was Before?

friend of mine, who's a long-term user of AB, says he prefers it how it was. His biggest problem now is it no longer works on his iPad. Is he alone in that or is he missing something?

I no longer want to go back to the old site which froze a lot, this one never does, so it's much easier for me to use.

Yes, definitely prefer the old format. So big now, do you realise the heading above measures 7 mm tall? I have poor eyesight and wear glasses, but could read the old layout perfectly well. I have a desk-top Mac with Safari (none of these new-fangled state-of-the-art electronics), and just wonder if there is any way of shrinking the print to a more convenient size.

I am getting extreme pangs of nostalgia when I recall the Answerbank I know & love. One page, showing Topics down the left side & Latests Posts to the right. One click of the mouse for each & we were away. Now it is to me like a jungle where one can get lost so easily.

Yes I preferred the old version. I havent found out how to look at one paper like I used to on the old method.

If you hold down control (ctrl keyboard bottom left) and press the minus key (- next to top right) it should reduce the size, use cntrl and plus next to - and it will increase back

I did say yesterday that I now have second thoughts on the new AB site. Nevertheless, I am conscious of the fact that ED is doing his best to keep us all as happy as is possible.

The item that is bugging me the most is ...'View All Categories'....It was great when they were listed on the left hand side and a quick tick above them produced an extended list with all sub categories.
Now it means click, click, click. Pity hc4361 suggests scrolling to bottom of page because, having to scroll a lot has been submitted in previous postings, as an annoyance factor.

I'm not keen on it .I've really tried to like it but I find myself not bothering much any more.
I used to like browsing around the categories but now it's a clicking scrolling nightmare with that drop down menu.
I've had to make the text in the answer box smaller as it was so enormous but being very short sighted that makes everything else really tiny and I have to squint at the rest of it.
It's useless on my tablet too.Huge and I have to keep swiping up and down.I can't seem to make the text smaller.

Me. I've been trying to get used to it but I much preferred the older version which made it much easier to browse about the site. The sizing issue is a pain, either too big and in your face or small with lots of space and all nearly all white and grey so it looks quite cold. Everything seems to be more spread out too so much more scrolling around to read a thread, see last posts or get anywhere. You can't see as much going on on the site now as you could, that, I think, encouraged people to stay on and browse, get involved in other threads and be part of the community on here. I miss being easily able to see and click on all the different sections down the side, much faffier to have to right scroll up or down and then click about to find what you want. Not much room in the answer box either to be able to read back what you have typed easily.

There is nothing that encourages you to look around, even long time users are saying the same. Those who keep saying how much better it is are referring to its functionality on different devices. They don't seem to grasp that it's the appearance and moving around the site that is so awful. What has made it work better in the background surely has nothing to do with how it looks - all of which I assume (and understand) is to increase the required space for more advertising. The categories bit is just pants.
