My PC mouse has just broken so I went online to search for another. All I want is a basic mouse with a wire that works. However I'm finding it really hard to find one that's not wireless! even if I type in or tick "wired", all the wireless ones come up. Are the wireless ones reliable; do they need batteries all the time? Years ago I had a wireless mouse and keyboard and the batteries would just run out leaving you hanging in the middle of your work! Very frustrating. Should I give wireless another go?
I have had a wireless mouse with my lappie for about 5 years and only changed the batteries once about 18 months ago. It is one with an off switch which I turn off after every session. Some I believe do not have the on/off switch and it is these I think that gobble up battery life.
One here Scarlett. Just been reading up and it would appear that the ones without a switch have a standby mode to save battery life. But I suppose if you move or carry the mouse around it is switching on every time it detects movement. I am using a Hewlett Packard H1D33AA.
I stick with wired mice and (because they're so cheap) I always ensure that I've got one or two spares handy. (I've actually got a wired keyboard and mouse set alongside me as I type, ready as spares in case I need them. I bought the set of two items as a clearance offer in B&M for £3.99!)
I have to confess that when I bought my first laptop 8 years ago I bought a wired mouse from B&M for 99p. It lasted 6 years until I stood on it. It outlived two laptops.
