I bought a combined TV and video a few years ago.
After a couple of years a video tape got stuck in the video player and would could not get it out.
The cost of repair was not worth it so even though the TV was fine we had to throw it away.
So the problem with combined devices is that if one of the devices in the unit fails (TV, DVD or Video) you lose the lot.
Another disadvantage I have just thought of is that DVD technology does move on.
I had a DVD player I bought about 4 years ago, but gradually more and more modern films would not play on it.
(Inside a DVD player is a small computer and many of the fancy things on a DVD are done with software. Many old DVD players cannot cope with the new complex software on modern DVDs).
If you have a combined unit then if you want to upgrade just the DVD it is more difficult.
