I have been happily posting on FB for years and have a lot FB friends on this site (they must think I'm dead). However about 10 days ago I was locked out and cannot get back in by any means whatsoever. I think it may have something to do with the new two factor authentication.
I have asked for codes to be resent, I get codes which I try and input but they always tell me it is incorrect. I have tried changing passwords and email accounts. (This applies both to FB and messenger). My partner is very IT orientated but even he cannot understand why I can't get back on - so here's a challenge for you all... :-)
There is a lot going on in my life right now whereas messenger at least would be very beneficial. The only customer service online help offered is for FB business accounts.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Has anyone any advice or solution?
Thank you so much x

Snowball & Sharon - would either of you be able to tell me how you resolved it? X
Bananas, log in with your usual email and change password. I had to do this on every appliance. Keep changing. Once in, I deleted all my conversations.
I had to warn everyone not to open anything from me. Lastly going into settings & privacy I let FB know. But I have not heard from them.
It all seems ok now.
Oh don't forget to run virus checks.

But that’s just the problem... I can’t log in. I’ve tried multiple times - receiving a reset code, changing the password, but when asked to input the code again after changing - it tells me both the code & the password are wrong.
> I think it may have something to do with the new two factor authentication.

Why do you think this? Have you enabled it on your account?
Are you getting more than one reset code for each attempt to reset your password? I thought I didn't get one and asked again then inputted the first one for the second attempt
Are you using correct email address?
Question Author
Ellipsis.. yes I think it is definitely related to two finger authentication.
I didn’t enable it as far as I know, but I think it automatically did it on the 1st November from what I can gather?
not for me
Question Author
????
No, it was not automatically inflicted on anybody.

What makes you think it is enabled on your Facebook account?

Because I can’t think of any other reason as to why I’m having such difficulty?
Hello Mrs
I had this prob a few months back.
First log out on every device
Then drink some wine.
Then on the machine you are using clear your cache
Then drink some wine
Log off everything and shut down
Then drink some wine
Reboot
When you try and log in make sure if you are asking for code by email that your email is logged in I prefer to do this step by phone
Drink some wine
Attempt to log in and you will have to wait for code to change your pw. When code comes type it in. Change PW to something completely different. Write this down.
Drink some wine.
Then leave it a few mins.
When you go to log in again, you may be ok. Or you may have to wait a few mins for a second code. A code will only work once.
Drink more wine.
If you try and use same code twice Mark zuckerberg uses a secret log in to increase the price of wine and gin.
OK, so when you try to log in, it is not asking you to complete two factor authentication? It is just asking for your email address (or phone number) and password - is that correct?

If you go to this page:

https://www.facebook.com/login/identify/?ctx=recover&;ars=facebook_login

And enter your email address under "Find Your Account" and click Search, what happens?

Yesterday was my first day back at the hospital since isolating.... manic worrying day and home late with pounding headache. Skipped the vino & had an early night.
Did manage to get as far as turning off two factor authentication on my Apple and inputting yet another new password- still same price, so hope tonight brings more luck following your advice. Thank you x

Hi Ellipsis... anyone...b
No luck.
When I enter via this route (your link) I tried logging in with my full name. I then got a code to change password. Then, it said this :

“It looks like you haven't logged in from this browser before. Please enter the login code from your Code Generator below.”
But I have no code generator & can’t get one because they are on my Facebook account... which I can’t get into..
