Dimplex ‘Optimyst’ Water Vapour ‘Flame’....?

The issue I have is related to the four 45watt lamps in the Dimplex electric ‘optimyst’
Fire. Would it be detrimental to the ‘flame’ if I replace these lamps with low wattage M6 type LEDs?

I suspect the heat from the bulbs is required to make the flame-effect work properly ie, the warm air rising from them will cause a paddle to rotate for the flicker effect. Low wattage bulbs will have insuffient heat to rotate the paddle.

Thanks for your response bhg, but there’s no paddle of any kind. Basically a transducer sits in a water sump with a small fan blowing the water vapour through a vent which is adjacent to the 4lamps. I don’t know that the vapour requires heat or just light....

It'd need energy. Heat will give more than light.
But try it and see ?

If you use "cold" light from LEDs, you won't get the steam which is the distinctive feature of Optimyst heaters.

I may be wrong, but I think the ‘myst’ is created by the transducer.....
I have observed the fan beside the water sump is not turning, so when all the festivities are past, I will make more investigation into that. Thank you for your input though

True they use a transducer ( look on you tube )so the bulbs will make no difference to it working the mist effect

Just to say that the mist isn't steam....it's water vapour produced by a high-frequency sonic device , similar to all the "cool-mist" aromatherapy vaporizers. We have one and the mist produced is really cool...no heat anywhere in the device.
