Hi. A little note keeps popping up on my tv. Watch in HD. What does this mean? Does it make any difference? Does it cost anything? Many thanks for information
It seems that your TV has an HD tuner as well as the normal tuner and when you tune to a normal station your set is reminding you that you could also watch it in HD. As a first approximation the channel numbers for HD stations are 100+usual number eg, BBC1 is Channel 1 in SD and 101 in HD and ITV is 3 or 103.
Whether HD is worth the bother depends on the size of your screen and how far away you sit. For most programmes the difference might not be obvious but when watching eg, tennis the lines might be clearer in HD.
HD High Definition is not on all TV's, But if you have it on yours, it's supposed to give you a better picture.
It doesn't cost anything to watch in HD, so click on it and see if you can get it and if it's a better picture.
Whether you notice a difference between standard and high definition depends on several things...including your eyesight and the quality of your set....if the set is a top quality one, you will notice a big difference.
BBC News Channel is 231 on Standard, 107 in HD. I don't know about Russia Today.
Also bear in mind that some regional BBC programmes are only in SD; South Today is one.
