Hi all, I hope this is in the correct category.
I have an account with ebay. I have 100% positive feedback, both buying and selling, with over 700 transactions.
A fortnight ago, I had to enter a validation code which was sent to my email address, which I did.
A week ago, the same thing happened, but instead of giving me the option to send the code to an email address, the only give me the option to send an sms to my landline. As such, I cannot access my account anymore.
I have contacted customer service via webchat on over half a dozen occasions to try and resolve this issue, but they insist that I have to give them my mobile number, which I'm not prepared to do.
I have asked them for email addresses that I can complain to, but each one they give me can only be used after logging into my account.
So, does anyone know of an email address I can complain to to get this resolved please?
They've given me phone numbers to contact, but I know it's just a scam to get my mobile number.

More and more organisations are using SMS as part of 2FA. If you continue to remain stubbornly opposed, you'll soon find yourself locked out of more than just eBay.

TheChair, Having had contact with call centres in the past, I am not being paranoid at all. Years ago, if you filled out, say, an entry form for a competition, the form had to include a box which you had to tick a box to stop the company sharing your data. Call centres took great delight in the knowledge that a) the box was very small, b) the text explaining what to do was so small you could barely read it, and c) most people wouldn't bother anyway. The legislation was changed to stop the practice, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen any more. This explains why most scam callers also know the name of person who they are calling. Number generators can't do that.
eBay does not sell your personal details including your phone numbers.
If a spammer cold calls you and knows your name it is very likely he/she has bought a database of personal details that have come from a hacker. Smaller companies are more likely to be victims of data breach as they are likely to be less secure.

"This is all very well, but I'm after an email address " - you want an email to complain because you don't like the way they operate. Your objection seems to be that they want to send you a text and you don't want them to. Myself and others have suggested how you could receive an SMS without giving out your main number. You cannot expect a company to adapt its processes to individual irrational fears.
