transfer files by disc

i have just got a new laptop and would like to send old files from a very old computer with a cd r drive on it
the laptop will not accept it and i dont want to network the computers because some files may damage it
any ideas please

Even if this were the case, then copying them via CD as opposed to by a network would have the same effect.
Still...
Assuming the old PC is capable, you could copy the files to a pen drive (also called a flash drive). It would set you back a few quid, but they always come in useful.
