Hello,

Does anyone else have Tesco as their internet provider? If so, could they tell me if it's just me or do they experience the internet cnnection being disconneted after every 2 hours? I'm current with the Anytime package and it's highly frustrating when the dialog box comes up and i have to reconnect. Is there a way to disable this?

Thank you for any advice.

I am with Tesco Broadband - but I have noticed in the past a lot of companies do this automatically - I believe NTL used to as did BT.

Why not consider buying a router - my Netgear one will automatically reconnect if a connection drops.

I have been with tesco BROADBAND for 8 months and never once been cut off and I play dominoes quite a lot but before I went broadband I was on DIAL UP also with tesco and that is why I changed to broadband as after about 2 hours I would get cut off in middle of game but not anymore.and I also find tesco very helpful if you have any queries. hope this helps.

Thanks Oneeyedvic for your help. I'll definately look into getting a router if it will solve my problems! :)

Thank you Wendilla. I find Tesco very helpful also, which makes a change from waiting from other companies taking months to reply!
Hi. Just to say that if you are getting wifi then don't buy a D-Link PCI Adapter for your pc if you have users on your computer who are not an administrator. Because you are not an administrator, windows doesn't allow the D-Link software to open in the taskbar in the corner of your screen and so keeps warning you with the most irritating bong noise ever known to man. The warning will repeat itself hundreds of times unless you click Ok on all of them and tends to do this every 10-20 minutes. You may be able to override this but I am not so sure. I know that I can't be the only one experiencing this because I have it fitted on two computers and the same thing happens. This may even happen with other company's products but I don't know. The driver that I have is version 1.0 so they may have updated and fixed this problem so check the website first.
Hi Alison, if you connect to your modem with USB, try this: Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and choose Properties. On the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button. At the bottom of the list, click the plus beside Universal Serial Bus controllers. Double-click each of the USB Root Hub entries in order, and on the Power Management tab of each one, make sure that the box beside "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

If you're not using USB or all the boxes are already unchecked, then sorry, I haven't got a clue!
