connecting a laptop to pc

hi can anyone tell me how to connect and setup my laptop to pc without using wireless i was told you can connect direct with a cable do i need to set up a network

As long as both are fitted with network cards, all you require to do is connect them together with an RJ45 Crossover cable, readily available from any computer store or fair.. If you use the crossover, you do not even need to buy a hub.

In addition you will need to set up a network which, if you are using XP, simply involves following the Network Setup Wizard in Control Panel on both comouters.

thanks how do i know if the computers have network cards?

Right-click My Computer, then select properties/hardware/device manager and look for network adaptors in the list.

On the rear of the PC/laptop there wll be a socket with a diagram showing three monitors.
