Setting up a Router 4/8/06

Could anybody help me please to setup a router on my laptop,I'm doing something wrong and I don't know what i'm doing wrong but I keep getting a message on the screen they can't find my Router.

Who is your ISP? What router do you have? Is your laptop wifi enabled?

What have you done so far?

Sorry Ethel,I am on AOL the Router is a Netgear DG834G v2 54Mbps ADSL Firewall Wi-fi enabled.
I put pass words in and try and get on to the internet the router trys to load but at the end of the loading I get a message saying that I have done something wrong and to go back or try troubleshooting.But I don't know what I have done wrong I followed the instructions but to no avail.

Help much appreciated.

Have you set up the modem part of it first with a wired connection to your laptop. Only having done that first, can you then set up the wireless connection.

dodgyshirt,I thought I set it up with a password but I will go and have another look,thanks for that info.

I'm like a bull in a china shop I try and set these things up without reading all the information????.
