Old SIM new phone

I have been living in the dark ages for the last 4 years! I have a 4 year old SIM card and a new Nokia 6131. I cannot get the phone to send or receive pictures, or to connect to the internet. I had similar problems with my last phone (Motorola) but have realised it must be something to do with my SIM.

Friends have suggested logging onto the Vodafone site but I can't even find my model of phone on their list.

Any suggestions?

Your SIM represents your account with your network provider. If you haven't actually signed up for an account with these facilities, then you won't be able to use them!

I think and stand to be corrected here that you will have to phone up customer services of your network and ask them to send you a sim update to your phone ans this is ussualy done almost imeddiatly...

this happened to me a couple of years ago, when i got a new phone. i had my SIM since 1998 and they (T-Mobile) had to send me a new updated one so that i could send and receive picture messages and use WAP. i had it that long, it said 'one2one', before they changed to t-mobile.

I agree with Dan no 1. The same thing happened to my daughter she had an old SIM that was not ready to use WAP etc.
