characters in a text

how many characters can u have in a text (from a motorola slvr l7 - i duno if the phone makes a difference!)

because i keep sending texts and it says they have to be sent as 2 - even when they dont seem very long!

any help would be much appreciated, im going through my credit far too quickly! thanks

The maximum length of a standard SMS message is 160 characters. (That assumes that you're texting with standard characters. If you happen to be texting in Chinese, the limit is just 70 characters)

My V3 Razr seems to have a standard sms message length of 150 characters, and will do three of those together as one long message - though of course it is costed as three texts if the counter goes below 150 or two texts if less then 300 left.

My V220 is exactly the same as mr_sparkle. I always stop at 300 left to ensure it's only one message.
