When Hubby rings his boss instead of hearing a ringing tone in his ear he hears a pop song, can anyone tell me what he needs to have on his phone to set this up please.

That's probably a dialtune. I know you can get them on 3 network, but I don't know what they cost, although there is a monthly fee. I don't know if any other networks offer this facility, though.

Sorry all fingers and thumbs this morning! I was going to say thanks girlborofan (great name by the way) he's due to upgrade his phone so I'll tell him to ask.
Or, it's certainly more complicated, but you can set up your own PBX (for a landline phone), by using a cheap old computer connected to your phone line.

You could then add a waiting tone etc. or whatever you like.
Thanks for the stars. I chose my name because it sums up who I am, a girl boro fan. If your hubby gets it sorted, would you let me know, so I know how it all turns out.

Hi again, Hubby went to upgrade today, he's actually on O2 which going by all the websites don't seem to provide dialtones. Anyway the service he had from the member of staff in the shop was so appalling he ended up walking out, ringing O2 direct, his phone is being delivered tomorrow and he never got chance to ask about dialtones so he's got to follow that up. Thanks again for your help, we wouldn't have known what to ask about without it.
It's not dialTONES, it's dialTUNES. I'm fairly sure that only 3 network carry them, but I'd be interested to find out if any other networks do them.
